A 44-year-old man died this morning after crashing into a parked semi-trailer truck in Elgin, according to Elgin police officials.
Elgin Police Lt. Dan O’Shea said the man was not being identified pending notification of his family.
The crash, police said, took place on the northwest side of Elgin about 7:35 a.m.
O’Shea said witnesses and early investigation shows the man was driving a 2006 Cadillac SRX at a high rate of speed west on Northwest Parkway.
The vehicle reportedly left the road and went into the parking lot of the Shaw Industries distribution center in the 2400 block of Galvin Drive, then flipped over and crashed into an unoccupied semi-trailer truck, O’Shea said.
Police said the man was the only occupant of the vehicle.
The man’s official cause of death will be determined after an autopsy by the Kane County Medical Examiner, according to O’Shea.
He said the Elgin Police Department Traffic Unit is still investigating.
Police asked that anyone with information about the accident call 847-289-2661.
