A colored man and woman went into a Morgan Park area beauty supply store on Monday and pepper sprayed an employee before making off with thousands of dollars worth of human hair extensions, police said.
The robbery happened at about 11:55 a.m. on the 11100 block of South Western Avenue, police said. The duo also made off with cash and other supplies including an employee's purse, police said.
After the duo went into the store, they confronted to a 21-year-old and 57-year-old female employee, and pepper spraying the 21-year-old in the face, police said. The man displayed a handgun, police said.
The duo went around the counter and pushed a victim, taking several thousand dollars worth of human hair extensions and cash, police said. One of the people took a purse from one of the women, which contained identification and cash.
The female victim was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital where she was treated for minor injuries, police said.
Police were searching for the two people. The female offender was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and purple pants. The male offender was wearing a red sweatshirt with a distinctive logo on the front, as well as orange colored pants.
The two people included a man between the ages of 18 and 22 years of age, about 6-foot-2 and weighing about 200 pounds with a fade hair cut. The woman is believed to be about 24 years old, about 5-feet-3 and weighing 160 pounds.
