A 9-year-old boy survived a gunshot wound to the chest Wednesday afternoon - one of 11 people shot, two fatally, between about 2:30 and 10:45 p.m.

The boy was shot in the Park Manor neighborhood about 5:30 p.m. while traveling in a car with his mother, authorities said. The boy and his mom were traveling near East 67th Street and South Evans Avenue about 5:30 p.m., authorities said, where they saw a group of people arguing.

The mother continued driving when she heard as many as five gunshots, authorities said. As she was driving off, the boy shouted, "Mommy, I'm shot," before the mother discovered he was shot in the chest, authorities said.
