Former Ravens Lineman Matt Birk Declines White House Invite Because Obama Is Pro-Abortion - Not to mention Obama is also a crack cocaine smoking DownLo homosexual

Former Baltimore Ravens offensive lineman Matt Birk declined a White House visit with the rest of his team for the annual congratulatory invitation extended to the Super Bowl winners because of President Barack Obama's support of Planned Parenthood.

The pro-life former NFL player explained his decision in a KFAN interview.

“I would say this,” Birk said. “I would say that I have great respect for the office of the Presidency, but about five or six weeks ago, our president made a comment in a speech and he said, ‘God bless Planned Parenthood.’”

Birk, an open and public Catholic, said that he was offended by the comments made by the president. Birk won the Super Bowl with the Ravens before retiring after 15 seasons in the league. 

“Planned Parenthood performs about 330,000 abortions a year,” Birk stated. “I am Catholic, I am active in the Pro-Life movement and I just felt like I couldn’t deal with that. I couldn’t endorse that in any way.”

Birk, who also took a stance against recent gay rights movements in the nation this past year, continued, “I’m very confused by [the President’s] statement. For God to bless a place where they’re ending 330,000 lives a year? I just chose not to attend.”

According to LifeNews, Birk grew up in St. Paul where Planned Parenthood has performed abortions for decades. A godfather of one of Birk’s five children opened a pregnancy center across the street from the abortion facility, and Adrianna, Birk’s wife, volunteered at the center. Eventually, the Planned Parenthood clinic closed.

As a featured speaker at the Maryland March for Life, Birk shared the emotional experience of holding his first child, and said that his Catholic faith and fatherhood are two of the main reasons he is pro-life.

“It was unbelievable the love that I felt for her,” he said about the birth of his daughter. “And any parent knows exactly what I’m talking about. At that point, you know it’s not a choice. Life is a gift that’s given to us. We are supposed to accept it. It’s not our choice whether we decide a baby lives or not.”

Birk added, “It seems like our society and media want to push pro-lifers to the side and hope that we would shut our mouths and go away quietly. Let’s not do that.”

“I don’t think I’m a superstar by any means,” Birk said. “But I’m glad [for] the platform that football allows me. I’m glad to use it to support causes that I passionately believe in and this is one of them. For me, it comes down to what’s right and what’s wrong- what’s God’s will and what’s not.”

Miss World Pageant Ditches Bikinis for Sarongs After Muslim Pressure - It appears Muslim women's pubic bushes extends way past their bikini lines

Bowing to pressure from its Muslim host country, the Miss World beauty pageant has announced that it will cut its famous bikinis and replace them with the traditional Indonesian sarong.

In this year's contest, the more than 130 contestants will be sporting the traditional longer sarongs worn in Bali instead of the revealing, sexy bikinis that have always been part of the competition, pageant officials have decided.

The contest will be held on Sept. 28 on the resort island of Bali and in Sentul, areas near the Indonesian capital of Jakarta. Indonesia is the world's most populous Muslim nation.

"There will no bikini in this year's Miss World pageant to respect our traditional customs and values," Adjie S. Soeratmadjie of the RCTI, the official broadcaster and local organizer, told media outlets.

"This is a sensitive issue in Indonesia. We have discussed it since last year and they have agreed," Soeratmadjie said.

The decision is a major departure for the Miss World competition. Even its first winner in 1950 wore a two-piece bathing suit during the show.

A few weeks ago the government had urged the Miss World staff to dump the bikinis and instead wear a kebaya or a batik, both of which are form-fitting, long dresses with a higher, open bodice situated above the cleavage.

In May, Sapta Nirwanda, the deputy minister of tourism and creative economy, also warned that if the Miss World contestants wore bikinis anyway it should be done "in a closed room."

Hardline Muslim groups have been up in arms about the Miss World contest for months.

Earlier in May, the East Java branch of the Indonesian Council of Ulema (MUI) sent a letter to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono demanding that the pageant be cancelled.

"Indonesia shouldn’t have anything to do with such an event," Abdusommad Bukhori, the provincial MUI chief, said.

"We want to advise the president not to allow it. The MUI’s rejection has been echoed by other Islamic organizations in East Java."

In 2007, Indonesian protesters forced Riyo Mori, the Japanese Miss Universe winner, to cancel a charity event complaining that she was "against Shariah" and was "a symbol of the world's adultery and pornography."

Police: Man apparently drowns in Belmont Harbor attempting to earn his good swimmer award

A man who was pulled from the waters of Lake Michigan in Belmont Harbor this evening has died, authorities said.

Passersby called 911 when they saw a man in the water in the 3500 block of West Belmont Harbor Drive, according to Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford.

“At least three divers went in, and after about 20 minutes, they found him,’’ said Langford.

Paramedics performed CPR on him all the way to Saint Joseph Hospital, said Langford.

But the still-unidentified victim was pronounced dead there at 6:02 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

He was initially in “very critical’’ condition, according to Langford.

Amy Rabas was taking a walk with a friend along a pier and when they rounded a corner at the entrance to the marina, they spotted him.

“He was already in the water and he wasn’t wearing a shirt,’’ she said.

Colin Nutter, the 20-year-old Highland Park man killed this week, was a gentle young man who wanted to be a social worker, his older sister said Wednesday.

Nutter, whose body was found by a dog walker in Wilmette, died of a gunshot wound to the back of the head, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. Police have asked the public for help finding the car that Nutter was driving the night he was killed — a navy blue 2004 Dodge Stratus.

His body was found on Frontage Road, just east of the Edens Expressway, at about 8:30 p.m. Monday. Wilmette police are being assisted by the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force and the Highland Park Police Department.

Sara Nutter fought back sobs as she described in a phone interview the heartache of losing her brother.

"He literally was my best friend. We talked about everything," said Sara Nutter, 23, who recently graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in psychology.

Colin Nutter looked up to his sister and was inspired by her college success to go into social work, she said. He was a hard worker, she said, holding down two jobs for a while at a Jewel-Osco store and the Arbor Ridge Senior Living facility in Highland Park. He had recently returned home from attending Lincoln College and had planned to continue his studies at the College of Lake County.

14 year old black boy drops his gun on Chicago Gold Coast street

A 14-year-old boy is accused of dropping a gun in the middle of North Michigan Avenue in the Gold Coast yesterday afternoon, causing a disturbance, police said today.

The boy, of the Austin neighborhood on the West Side, was cited in a juvenile delinquency petition for unlawful use of a weapon, police said.

He was crossing the street Wednesday about 4:10 p.m. in the 800 block of North Michigan Avenue and caused a disturbance when he dropped a silver and black handgun in the median of Michigan Avenue in the view of two police officers, according to a police report.
 
The boy picked the gun up and placed it back in his waistband before the officers detained him, recovered the weapon and placed him into custody, the report said. The boy spent the night at a Juvenile Detention Center, police said.

A south suburban man is in police custody following a fatal hit-and-run in Tinley Park last night.

Rajendrakumar Shah, 61, was crossing 159th Street southbound on 80th Avenue at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday when he was hit by a driver, according to Tinley Park Police Cmdr. Patrick McCain.

Orland Hills resident Erin Henrichs, 27, said she was walking out of Walgreens at the time when she heard what sounded like a car crash.

“I heard the loud boom and there was a man laying in the middle of the road when I walked up to (her family’s) car,” Henrichs said. “It was horrible.”

Henrichs said she walked over to check on the scene. From where she stood on the side of the road, she the man appeared to be dead.

“He wasn’t breathing,” Henrichs recalled. “It makes my stomach turn.”

The victim was lying in the middle of the road, “where a median should be,” Henrichs said. She said she saw one of his bags, as well as his shoe, on the ground several feet away.

Shah was on foot when he was struck by the driver, police said.

Police have arrested a suspect in the case, McCain said, and are preparing charges based on "evidence at the scene."

Police declined to provide more details at this time but said the suspect is a 22-year old man from the south suburbs.

Shah's family declined to comment, citing the pending criminal investigation.

Henrichs said she saw the Tinley Park response team show up immediately, “so fast it was unbelievable.”

Crime is down..... Chicago Police squad cars hit by bullets in two incidents... Anybody see McCarthy lately?

Chicago Police cars were hit by gunfire in two separate incidents on Thursday.
A bullet-riddled undercover police car sat near 80thStreet and Manistee Avenue after it was reportedly shot at around 5:00pmThursday. What happened in this attack is under investigation.
The Chicago Tribune is reporting the  officers involved were members of the gang ornarcotics unit. The officers were not hurt and no one is in custody.
A few hours later, there was a similar attack in theWest Pullman neighborhood near 119th and Stewart. The suspects reportedly firedshots at police officers, there was a foot chase and the suspects got away.
No police officers were hurt, but Chicago Fraternal Order of Police spokesman Pat Camden said the wanton shooting should be alarming to everyone.
"Residents should be very concerned. We've got thugs who are willing to shoot at police," Camden said. "When people are shooting at police officers, crime is not going down."

An Army master sergeant was punished after he hosted a promotion party and served Chick-fil-A sandwiches in honor of the Defense of Marriage Act.

The unidentified soldier was investigated, reprimanded, threatened with judicial action and given a bad efficiency report, according to the Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty.

“They say he is no longer a team player and was not performing up to standards,” Chaplain Alliance Executive Director Ron Crews told Fox News. “This is just one little example of a case of a soldier just wanting to express his views and now he’s been jumped on by the military.”

Army Public Affairs issued the following statement:  ”With respect to the political activities, soldiers are expected to carry out their obligations as citizens in accordance with applicable regulations. The Army cannot comment on ongoing investigations or administrative actions.”

The soldier’s story was included in a letter to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights documenting concerns about attacks on religious liberty within the Armed Services.

Last summer the soldier had received his promotion to master sergeant. The promotion coincided with a national controversy surrounding Chick-fil-A’s support of traditional marriage. Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy told a newspaper that he was “guilty as charged” when it came to supporting the biblical definition of marriage. Gay rights advocates were infuriated and some Democratic leaders – most notably the mayor of Boston –  attempted to stop the popular restaurant chain from opening restaurants in their cities.

Crews said the soldier decided to hold a party to celebrate his new position. The invitations read, “In honor of my promotion and in honor of the Defense of Marriage Act, I’m serving Chick-fil-A sandwiches at my promotion party.”

After the party, the solider received a letter of reprimand. Crews said at issue was the combination of the sandwiches and the soldier’s support of DOMA (which happens to be the law of the land).

“There was initially some talk of bringing judicial punishment against him,” Crews said. “He had a letter put in his file and an investigation was initiated to see if he had violated any policy.”

The solider reached out to the Chaplain Alliance for help and they put him in touch with an attorney. Crews said nearly one year later – the soldier is still embroiled in a legal battle.

“He was at the pinnacle of his career,” Crews said. “To make that rank means you’ve done very well throughout your career. He wants to finish serving his time honorably.”

Crews said stories like this are becoming commonplace in the military post-repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.

“These stories are the ones that have not been told – about some of the more subtle ramifications of the repeal of the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy,” he said.

One service member received a severe reprimand for expressing his faith’s religious position about homosexuality in a personal religious blog.

A chaplain was relieved of his command over a military chapel because he could not allow same-sex weddings to take place in the chapel.

And a chaplain who asked senior military officers whether religious liberty would be protected in the wake of the repeal of the law against open homosexual behavior in the military was told to “get in line” or resign.

Crews said they are sharing these stories to let other service members know there is a place to get help. He said Chaplain Alliance publishes a religious liberty palm card – explaining constitutionally protected liberties to service members.

“If you believe your religious liberties have been violated, here’s what you can do,” he said. “We will see that you get the help that you need.”

As for the soldier who served the Chick-fil-A sandwiches?

“We’re going to stand with this soldier who did nothing wrong,” “There is nothing wrong in saying he wants to celebrate DOMA – which happens to be federal law.

A 22-year-old white woman who was raped in broad daylight has spoken out about the assault in the hope it will lead to the capture of her Negro attacker.

Alexandra Clarke, from Chicago, was raped last month while she was waiting for a bus at a busy intersection.

She was listening to music on her iPhone around 2pm when a man sat down beside her. 

She said: 'He was sitting there for about 30 seconds to a minute. And all of sudden he grabbed my throat, he said, "You are going to take a walk with me".'

In Los Angeles County, the report states that blacks are 2.6 times as likely to get arrested for marijuana.

Blacks are four times more likely to be arrested than whites for marijuana possession, according to a report from the American Civil Liberties Union that contends billions in dollars and resources have been spent on racially biased arrests.

The report, entitled "The War on Marijuana in Black and White", was released Tuesday and focused on law enforcement records across the country. Among the report's findings, according to the ACLU, are that there were 8 million marijuana arrests in the United States, or one pot arrest every 37 seconds. The enforcement of marijuana laws also costs about $3.6 billion annually, the report states.

The "temporary assistance," announced Wednesday afternoon by Gov. Pat Quinn's office, aims to keep the hospital open while its board and state officials develop a long-term plan to put the safety-net hospital on solid financial footing.

Quinn warned that the bailout is not a long-term solution for the facility, which treats many patients who are poor and don't have insurance.

Feds: State of Illinois youth prison had high rate of sex assault - 1 in 5 got ass raped

Nearly one in five inmates at a now-defunct Joliet youth prison reported being victims of sexual assault, one of the highest rates of any youth detention center in the country, according to a report released this morning by the U.S. Department of Justice.

In survey results published today, 21 percent of inmates at Illinois Youth Center-Joliet, a high-security juvenile detention center that was closed this year in a cost-cutting move by Gov. Pat Quinn, reported they had been sexually assaulted by other inmates or had sexual contact with a staff member. 

That percentage was more than double the national average of just under 10 percent, according to the report, “Sexual Victimization in Juvenile Facilities Reported by Youth.”

Overall, the rate of sexual victimization of Illinois youth prisons was more than 15 percent, higher than all but four other states.

A woman was shot near a South Side elementary school this afternoon, but there were no reports of students or staff being injured. 

Paramedics were sent to the 1600 block of East 93rd Street around 3:30 p.m., on the same block as the Amelia Earhart Elementary School, according to Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford. 

He said the victim is a woman who was shot in the chest and sent to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition.

On Sunday, Clarke came forward to the media and told her story in hopes of catching the man and raising awareness.  An anonymous donor gave $5,000 on Wednesday, doubling the reward to $10,000, said Renee Touchton, Clarke’s mother.

The 10457 ZIP code in the Bronx — which includes Tremont, portions of Crotona, Belmont and Claremont — has the highest number of people afflicted by two of the following conditions: HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, gonorrhea, syphilis, chlamydia and tuberculosis, according to the Department of Health.

All seven diseases are epidemic in 10457, with infection rates for all conditions in the top 20% of cases citywide.

It’s not just a 10457 problem. In fact, the Bronx has the highest number of ZIP codes — 70% — where residents are in the top 20% for at least two diseases.

In Manhattan, 45% of ZIP codes have two-disease rates in the top 20%, compared to 25% of Queens ZIPs and 22% in Brooklyn.

“It’s very disturbing, especially for our community,” Tom Murray, director of community affairs for St. Barnabas Hospital and the chairman of Community Board 6’s Health and Human Services Committee.

“The teenagers are engaging in very risky behavior. They think AIDS is a thing of the past.”

The ZIP code’s high poverty rate contributes to the disproportionate number battling two or more serious diseases. Roughly 70,000 people live in the 10457 ZIP code and the median household income is $24,537. Some 43% of Tremont/Crotona residents live below the poverty line compared a poverty rate of 21% citywide.

“While this is a disappointment, it’s not a surprise,” said Community Board 6 District Manager Ivine Galarza.

Residents blamed officials.

“I’m afraid,” said Yolanda Smith, 32, said. “The government needs to do something about it.”

Juan Santos, 63, a disabled veteran, called for more activities and education for young people.

“The main problem with venereal disease is a lack of information,” he said. “We have a lot of billboards about cigarettes and beer. Why are there no billboards about AIDS?”

It’s not as if condoms aren’t available, said one shop owner. It’s just that people aren’t using them.

“I got a lot of condoms,” said Andrew Garcia, manager of the Crotona Lotto Plus shop. “Nobody’s asking for condoms. When the hospital came and gave out the free condoms, I left them here. Nobody took them.”

Restitution payouts slated for victims of decades-old gangland slayings in Chicago

Decades after the Chicago Outfit carried out gruesome slayings by remote-control bomb, strangulation and shotgun blasts, the many victims' relatives are finally receiving $1.7 million in restitution.

The money is coming from the assets of Chicago Outfit boss Frank Calabrese Sr., who died in December in federal prison while serving a life sentence for his conviction in the landmark Operation Family Secrets trial. He was found responsible for 13 murders dating to the 1970s.

Much of the loot was discovered by federal agents in 2010 hidden in a secret compartment behind a family portrait on the wood-paneled basement wall of Calabrese's Oak Brook home. Agents found envelopes stuffed with $644,000 — mostly $500 and $1,000 bills — and hundreds of pieces of jewelry, many still in display boxes or containing store tags.

Female Driver Marlene Walter, 59, flies off the road and hits a Burbank house - She's dead

A 59-year-old woman died after the car she was driving hit a house in Burbank overnight, authorities said.

Marlene Walter, 59, was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center about 3:30 a.m.Authorities said her car hit a home in the 5400 block of South State Road in Burbank.

Sheriff Nick Finch gets pinched! Liberty County Sheriff Arrested

Sheriff Nick Finch has declined to comment on his arrest. His attorney, Jimmy Judkins, released the following statement:

"The records at the jail show exactly what happened in this case and the records speak the truth. The sheriff looked at the facts and said 'I believe in the second amendment and we're not going to charge him.' That is not misconduct at all. That is within the Sheriff's prerogative whether to charge someone or not."

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Today, Governor Rick Scott announced the appointment of Carl Causey as Interim Sheriff of Liberty County.

Causey, 53, of Gulf Breeze, has been the Assistant Special Agent in Charge for the Pensacola Region of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement since 2010. Previously, ASAC Causey served 11 years with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office where he worked in patrol and investigations. Causey served as an agent in the Sebring Field Office of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement from 1993 to 1996, and as an agent in the Pensacola Regional Operations Center from 1996 to 2007. In 2007, he was promoted to Special Agent Supervisor over the Major Crimes Squad. He received his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Troy State University.

Governor Scott said, “I am confident that Carl Causey will serve the families of Liberty County well during this interim term.”

Causey replaces suspended Liberty County Sheriff Nick Finch, and is appointed for a term beginning June 4, 2013, and ending July 4, 2013.

Tallahassee - Inspectors with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Office of Executive Investigations obtained a warrant for the arrest of Nicholas Lee Finch, 50, of Bristol, Fla., earlier today on one count of official misconduct, a violation of section 838.022, Florida Statutes.

Investigators allege that Finch destroyed or removed official arrest documents from the Liberty County Jail, making it appear as though an arrest never occurred. The investigation revealed that a Liberty County Sheriff’s Office deputy arrested a Liberty County resident on March 8, 2013 for carrying a concealed firearm, a third degree felony. Shortly after the suspect was booked into the Liberty County Jail, Finch allegedly released the suspect and altered or destroyed documents associated with his arrest.

Finch was arrested just after 5 p.m. today and was booked into the Liberty County Jail. He was released on his own recognizance. Finch was elected Liberty County Sheriff in 2012.

The State Attorney’s Office, 2nd Judicial Circuit will prosecute this case.

OAKLAND (CBS SF) – Oakland police are seeking a suspect believed to be responsible for a series of serious crimes in a 74-minute period late Tuesday morning.

On Tuesday night, police identified the suspect as 26-year-old Jamar Cleveland. He is described as a black man, 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 200 pounds. He is believed to be armed and dangerous and remained at large, police said.

Police said that between 10:43 a.m. and 11:57 a.m. Cleveland is believed to have committed two shootings, three carjackings and at least two possible kidnappings.

The spree started at 10:43 a.m. in the 1500 block of 39th Avenue where a man allegedly shot a woman and then carjacked another victim to get away from the scene.

Police found the woman with gunshot wounds and took her to a hospital where she is in stable condition.

The same man then allegedly carjacked two more people, forcing at least one of them to drive him to another location at gunpoint. At some point he stopped in another location in the city and shot a second victim.

That victim was also hospitalized and is in stable condition, police said.

Police said the shooting victims appear to have been targeted but have not released a motive for the shootings.

DAYTIME CHICAGO BLACK VIOLENCE TODAY: AT LEAST 5 shot & wounded in South Side shootings

At least five people were wounded in separate attacks this afternoon and evening on the city's South and Far South side, officials said.

In the latest attack happened about 7:25 p.m. on the 12300 block of South Emerald Avenue in the city's West Pullman neighborhood, said Police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer.

Three people were reported wounded, but their ages, genders and where they were taken for treatment was not available. One was shot in the leg, another in the buttocks and the third in the abdomen, Greer said.

Human leg found at Lake Michigan on Chicago's South Side

A human leg was discovered this afternoon lying on the rocks of Lake Michigan on the South Side in the Kenwood neighborhood, officials  said.

About 2:42 p.m., police were alerted to the 4700 block of Lake Shore Drive for human remains that had been found, said Police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala.

The remains were a leg that had been cut off at the hip, according to a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Police are conducting a death investigation.

New TV show inspired by LiL Dick "The Commie" Durbin and D.C. roommates - 'Alpha House' created by Garry Trudeau

The activities of Sen. Dick Durbin have inspired plenty of political plaudits and denunciations — and now there's a TV series.

The online show "Alpha House," created and written by Garry Trudeau, is based on a Capitol Hill row house where various lawmakers room together, including Durbin for the last 20 years. His current roommates are Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and the home's owner, Rep. George Miller, D-Calif.

"Alpha House" has changed a key detail. The Democrats have been replaced by four fictional Republican senators, played by Mark Consuelos, John Goodman, Clark Johnson and Matt Malloy.

The satirical series by Amazon Studios comes after the success of another set-in-Washington, online-only show, "House of Cards," starring Kevin Spacey. Thirteen episodes of "Alpha House" will air this year and early next year, according to The Washington Post.

Scared Children Jump From Moving Car With Drunk Father Driving

PALM COAST, Fla. (AP) — Florida authorities say three children visiting from Ohio jumped out of a moving car with their drunken father behind the wheel.

Demitri Nicholas of Piqua, Ohio, was arrested Monday in Palm Coast and charged with felony child neglect. Jail records show he’s been released from the Flagler County Jail after posting $2,500 bond. It’s not immediately known if he has an attorney.

A charging affidavit shows the 41-year-old was driving erratically with his three children in the car. The children told deputies they jumped out while he was driving “relatively slow” because they were afraid.

The children walked to a neighbor’s house where they called for help. The charging affidavit states that Nicholas never went back to get them.
