Police said a 45-year-old man was found brutally beaten in the South Chicago neighborhood about 4 a.m. Sunday morning.
The man was found in the 8700 block of South Commercial Avenue with fractures to his face and missing teeth. Police are concerned about the man's airway because his neck was left swollen after the attack.
He was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition, police said.
Someone driving by found the man, who police said had an ID on him but no money or other items. It's not clear if he was robbed or if a weapon was used during the beating, police said.
Nobody called 911 to report the incident, police said.
No one is in custody.
