A 28-year-old man was struck in the head by a baseball bat in Oak Park after refusing to give up his parking spot to a woman who requested it, police said Wednesday.
A woman was trying to hold an open parking space in the 200 block of North Marion Street for her boyfriend when a Lyons resident parked in the spot in the public lot around 11 a.m. Tuesday, according to a police report.
Krystal Ocegueda, 23, of Elmwood Park and Fabian Torres, 23, also of Elmwood Park were arrested and charged with aggravated battery, police said.
Ocegueda reportedly told the Lyons man he had "three seconds" to move the car, then punched him in the face with her fist because she had already paid to use the spot, said Oak Park Detective Sgt . Michael Richardson. Torres is accused of removing an aluminum baseball bat from the trunk of his car and hitting the man on the left side of the head, causing him to fall on the ground, Richardson said.
The man was transported to an Oak Park hospital, according to a report. Richardson said he did not believe the injuries were life-threatening.
