A man was taken into custody yesterday after a three-hour barricade situation in northwest suburban Arlington Heights, according to witnesses and police.
About 5:20 p.m., police responded to a condominium development near Chestnut Avenue and Wing Street after a man "who was having a bad day" fired a gun into the air and then pointed it at his chest before returning to a residence, according to a witness at the scene.
Police said in a release that the first call reported gunfire in the sixth floor of a five-story building and were then given a different location, in the 100 block of Wing Street, around the corner from the first.
