A fire that broke out in a storage area at Myron & Phil restaurant in Lincolnwood today at about 3 a.m. caused heavy damage to the business, according to Lincolnwood Battalion Chief Ray White.
The fire, which White said was contained in about 45 minutes, comes on the same morning as the death of the restaurant’s original co-owner, Myron Freedman, a relative said.
Myron Freedman opened the restaurant 41 years ago with his brother, Phil Freedman, according to Barbara Moss, Phil Freedman’s daughter. Moss said her uncle had been in ill health.
Moss said her father and uncle were extremely close, and worked side by side until retirement. Myron Freedman lived in Lake Forest with his wife, Pearl, Moss said.
